Dr Jeffrey Bernstein

Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein is a licensed psychologist specializing in child, adolescent, couples, and family therapy. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology and graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1983. Dr. Bernstein later received his doctorate in counseling psychology from State University of New York at Albany, where he received specialized graduate training in Child, Adolescent, and Family therapy. In addition to his academic responsibilities while in Albany, he served as a consultant to the Family Court system and city organizations. Dr. Bernstein was selected to attend the University of Pennsylvania Counseling Center for his internship in 1989. Dr. Bernstein subsequently was employed as a senior staff psychologist for five years with the Albert Einstein Health Care Network in Philadelphia. Over the past 20 years Dr. Bernstein has maintained a private practice outside of Philadelphia, PA where he specializes in child, adolescent, couple/family therapy, and corporate consultation services.
Dr. Bernstein frequently serves as a guest speaker at schools, organizations, and parent associations. He serves as a member on the professional advisory board of CHAAD of Chester County. Dr. Bernstein also serves on the YMCA medical advisory committee and conducts staff trainings for managing child and teen obesity. Dr. Bernstein also conducts seminars on child development, self-esteem, ADHD, learning disabilities, discipline, difficult children and parenting issues throughout the greater Philadelphia area. His work has been profiled in several media sources, including radio all across the country, twice on the The Today Show, Court TV as an expert advisor, CBS eyewitness news Philadelphia, 10! Philadelphia--NBC, several television appearances on Comcast CN8 including Real Life with Mary Amaroso, Lynn Doyle, and the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily Local News. Dr. Bernstein also has been quoted in Ladies Home Journal, Men's Health and Cosmopolitan Magazines. He wrote his first book on couples' relationship issues, Why Can't You Read My Mind? (2004). Dr. Bernstein's also wrote a book is on the subject of defiant children and teens, and is entitled, 10 Days to a Less Defiant Child (Avalon Books, May 2006). Dr. Bernstein's subsequent book is 10 Days to Less Distracted Child (2007). His latest book, Liking the Child You Love , will be published in Spring 2009. Dr. Bernstein has three children, Alissa (age 17), Sam (age 14), and Gabrielle (age 13).
