David Hirshleifer

David is known for his research on social learning and behavioral finance, which have contributed to a new understanding of why society is prone to fads and fashions, and why stock markets over- versus underreact. David is the Merage Chair of Business Growth and a professor of finance at the Merage School of Business, UC Irvine. He previously held chaired or tenured positions at Ohio State University, University of Michigan, and UCLA. His articles have received several awards, and he is co-author of Price Theory and Applications: Decisions, Markets, and Information. David has served as editor for academic journals and director for professional societies. His research has been profiled widely in print and broadcast media.
