I read the strangest birth metaphor that truly made me cringe. A scientist likened the growing fetus (our precious unborn babies) to a tumor. A cancer, of all things. It really zapped the beauty and loveliness of pregnancy. During my three pregnancies (including twins), I imagined things closer to seeds flourishing into flowers. There's a book called 'Is your body baby friendly?' that partly addresses this topic. Many women (like me) have a very difficult time getting or staying pregnant because of immune issues.
And sorry to nitpick, but you have a couple of typos that jumped out at me. Our 'bodies' (not body's) and 'foreigners' (not foreignors).

first of all, thanks for catching my glaring errors. and let me know if there are more. the book sounds fascinating but i think doctors have a lot to learn about immunity and pregnancy, we are only just beginning.

The book sounds intriguing but i really do believe that there are so many things we don't know. we know that many women have immune problems--and they may or may not be linked to hormones--but doctors have a lot to learn to help so many women.
