Great post...

Lynne:

I recently had a consultation client come to me with questions about the sudden changes in behavior in her 3 year old. Every professional she had spoken with had said, "She's clearly been sexually abused."

I asked two questions, "When was her last round of vaccinations?" and, "Have you had her tested for autism?"

Turns out she was exhibiting the signs of late onset autism.

Frankly, if I had not worked with autistic kids for so long, I would have gotten on board with everyone else and said abuse.

Thanks for a much needed commentary.

Blessings,
Michael

Response to Michael

Firstly, it was an excellent article on a topic I am intimately familiar with as a woman with Asperger's.

Secondly, to Michael Formica, scientific studies have shown conclusively that there is no link between autism and vaccines. This is an urban legend perpetuated by the ignorant or denying.

Autism and vaccines

Ylanne,

I was not drawing a line between Asberger's and vaccines here. I have a very close friend whose son developed profound CP as a result of an allergic reaction to a common vaccine.

Thanks for the opportunity to clarify my statement!

Best,
Michael
