We differ as to the kinds of things we worry about. Some of us worry about being abandoned by other people, some worry about not being able to take care of ourselves,

vague core
"Looking at the Core of your Anxiety" explains how to deal with self-defeating thoughts, but I often find that I have a general dread that never seems to materialize into a specific thought that I can counter. When I worry about the possibility of a negative event, say job loss, I feel the physical effects of increased heart rate etc and I think "this is going to be terrible," but I don't think "gosh, I'm going to loose my status as a superior person."
I'm sure the thoughts you mention are kicking around in there somewhere, I just can't seem to articulate them.
Perhaps you could consider this in a future post.
Thanks,
David
