"Looking at the Core of your Anxiety" explains how to deal with self-defeating thoughts, but I often find that I have a general dread that never seems to materialize into a specific thought that I can counter. When I worry about the possibility of a negative event, say job loss, I feel the physical effects of increased heart rate etc and I think "this is going to be terrible," but I don't think "gosh, I'm going to loose my status as a superior person."

I'm sure the thoughts you mention are kicking around in there somewhere, I just can't seem to articulate them.

Perhaps you could consider this in a future post.
