It is absolutely horrifying, & it seems most unlikely the sheep would have survived. However, I personally don't find it surprising. Military training has always inevitably involved the systematic humiliation & brutalisation of recruits. I imagine this kind of abuse is quite widespread particularly in situations like Afghanistan where the men are likely to be less restrained by the moral values of their home country. But this can't possibly excuse such appallingly brutal behaviour, and I hope those responsible will be found & prosecuted under military law.

Unfortunately, that's what we are now. We are a country in which the savages in the audience of a Republican debate cheer "Yes!" at the prospect of a hypothetical, uninsured fellow citizen dying due to lack of medical insurance. We are a Social Darwinist society in the making in which the social insurance hypocrite Ayn Rand is the new goddess of the marketplace. We are a society that proclaims itself "Christian" but has no use for Christ's admonition that "that which you do to the least of you you do for me." We are a society in which college students peacefully exercising their right under the fantasy of the U.S. Constitution are systematically hosed with non-lethal chemical weapons by the new Gestapo. And we are a society in which the sadism of soldiers who dispatch and then piss on the corpses of fallen adversaries with glee are lionized by the neo-fascist, right-wing propagandists and idealogues. Oh, and in which beating a defenseless animal to death in front of its owner is the entertainment fodder of YouTube.

That is what we have become, and I could not be more ashamed. If I had the wherewithal to leave, I would do so. But I can't, so I am stuck here in this hypocritical, neo-fascist, theocratic AmeriKKKa with the rest of you. It is not the country I grew up in in which civil rights were in the acendancy. It is a budding right-wing, dystopic hell. Accept it or fight it. I have yet to make up my mind which is the course I will take.

Hey maybe they ate it? It's a goat after all. Honestly why all this overreaction? If that was human being being beaten would there be as much hype? Honestly I believe we a truly a perverted society when a goat becomes a concern for many grown people. Have you never seen an animal die, do you know where your food and products come from, or are you so detached that a bunch of soldiers beating a goat causes pain? Life feeds off life my friends. Want to inflict no harm? - commit suicide.
