Thanks so much for exposing this atrocity. In Australia it is a felony to shoot a kangaroo without a licence (ahem, but not a felony to kill a kangaroo.....). The punishment is $10,000 per kangaroo and/or jail time. Since there were 20 adults and about as many joeys, that works out to $400,000 in fines. The policeman who shot the kangaroos was off duty and had no licence. Why wasn't he fined? Are policemen immune to the law? One law for police, another for everyone else. Policemen are above the law - like he said to the 16 yr old boy with him 'I can do whatever I want'.

I wonder if he murdered a human being if he would get a slap on the wrist for that? No wonder there are so many stories in the media of young men brutally killing kangaroos and koalas for fun when they have role models like this to follow. If the policeman was punished to the full extent of the law it would send a clear message to the public that this is NOT on. If this policeman does not get punished to the full extent of the law I predict cruelty to kangaroos will escalate.

The policeman responsible for this should not be toting a gun. His lack of regard for life is obvious and his capacity to terrorize with a weapon is proven. I hope there is a collective outrage over this inexcusable violent act and that the Australian government will hold this man accountable to the letter of the law. This crime makes me not want to visit Australia, especially if the government and people turn a blind eye. Thank you for blowing the whistle and bringing to our consciousness acts such as this that seem all too often to be treated with disregard.

One of the markers of a sociopath is having no consience or remorse. Men who can kill without demonstrating these important values should not be allowed to walk the streets, let alone be a part of the police force meant to protect the vulnerable.
