Better food for thought
Despite many millions of dollars of debt and the nearly impossible mathematical odds of her obtaining the requisite number of electoral votes, Clinton heedlessly extended her candidacy for at least three weeks longer than anything but her own egotistical petulance could countenance, then avoided quickly and unambiguously throwing her support behind the person who won the nomination by rules she herself agreed upon, and thereby jeopardized the chances of her party winning the election.
This raises, I think, the far more probing question: does this reveal more of a male or female style of leadership?
Gender or personality??
I think the gender wont matter much when compared to personality, a difficult boss can be either a male or female and a kind boss can either be a male or female
Curious is intelligent
I'm curious and I'm smart because I use way more big words than I need to to get my point across.
I would prefer a male boss -
I would prefer a male boss - Every female boss that I have had with the exception of ONE has been controlling, domineering and basically just a bitch. Being a female, there are issues with some male bosses but overall, I think they are more even across the board and just better to work for.
Women try to hard
At my work, I have a few bosses, my direct boss, a younger female, and her boss a younger female(than both of us, and one that I would call an Alpha^2), and their bosses, the president and CEO, both male. From my experience there, the female bosses are much more short with one, and exude a kind but no nonsense attitude, whereas the men are free to open up and ask about your weekend, and etc. etc. The females, I suppose are soo worried that they will not be taken seriously, they come off as a tad bitchy, ignoring my emails for a while, and then responding "whats up" when I go see them, as if they didnt get it. Lol. I hope all women in the corporate world are not this way.

Most of the female bosses I've had have tried to come off as too business-like and professional, when being in consulting, the top managers are seen for their expertise and contribution to the product almost more so than their management abilities and business acumen. For a crude example, at all the companies I've worked for, the men higher ups dress down and convey more of the consulting "guru" type image and the women dress more like wall-street traders and are very concerned with project management and client interaction and so forth. My problem with that is- I'm not like that. I'm more of a scientist-type, so it's weird to have that sort of females in the workplace relationship but really have nothing in common with them.
That being said, male bosses intimidate me. It's weird, but I always feel younger and less experienced around male bosses and colleagues (maybe that's why the other women try too hard to come off as polished?) I also feel sometimes like I'm treated like a secretary. Also, my field has a lot of numerical work involved, and I think men and women approach numbers with different styles (add to that I have ADD and am highly creative). If I approach a "math" problem differently than a male boss/colleague, I'm seen as stupid. I'm doing it right, I'm just doing it differently. The males can't seem to accept that and chock it up as women are bad with numbers, better give her something to file.
A male; I had a very bad experience with a female boss
In a former financial services job, a female that had been my colleague became my boss. We were the same age (31) an had been equals prior to that. I knew things would change, but she made me miserable. She was incredibly control-freaky and required me to cc her on every email sent to a client and answer her phones (try saying "Elizabeth XXXXXXXX-XXXXX's office; Elizabeth is in a meeting right now, can I take a message" 25 times a day...it gets boring), especially when my job title is 3 notches above admin assistant (and one notch below her's). She was definitely the ultra aggressive female who loved having a male as a subordinate. I think in part it came from her height. She was 5'10" but still wore very high heels, to be about 6'3". Anyway, my first evaluation from her just so happened to be a C- which is the lowest level at which you can keep your job but not get a bonus or raise. It was so unfair. She also wrote me up once for a completely bogus incident and "forgot" to tell me that she had done it until I got a copy of it via email with no chance to respond. Never again will I work for a female.
Honestly, females seem to get it done better
I have had both male and female bosses, and watched my peers go through the same. Bottom line, I think females are more effective. Yes, in most cases they are tougher and more anal relative to males, especially the younger women, but that seems to produce results. I'm not saying it's right, but male bosses seem to be hesitant to hold their female subordinates to any accountability. But female bosses seem to be able to get results out of both male and female subordinates.
As an EMPLOYEE, I would favor a male boss. But from the company's perspective, a female might be better.
