Comments on "Sexist or Fair Game?"

Sexist or Fair Game?

I have been receiving a number of thoughtful comments in previous blog entries and I thought I would address one of the subjects that I myself have questioned while watching the political debates - are some of the comments sexist or fair game?

Just like in the workplace, these elections have raised many issues around race, gender, and age bias.

Personal Biases

Like most, I have personal biases. I believe that is our goal as adults to put our biases' aside when making important decisions - like voting. Unfortunately, most people do not act like adults when they are making important, possibly life-altering decisions and let their biases get in the way. That is why we had 8 years of Bush.

I deeply believe that politics has BECOME similar to an EXECUTIVE environment, and it is despicable. The only people that don't find it repulsive are the Executives. The rest are either (a) drinking the coolaid or (b) put in a perpetual "time out" while they work for change.

At this point, Bush and his friends have set the bar so low in politics that a pig with lipstick
could be voted into office.

Personal biases

You make a very interesting point. Every person has some sort of prejudice whether or not they are aware of it. I do not support Sarah Palin, but not for the reasons most would assume.

My issues with Palin have nothing to do with gender. She lacks experience, and plays the gender card more than necessary. If Mc Cain is elected and something happens to him, we would have an inexperienced, aggressive nobody running our country.

Race, gender and age will all play a significant role in this election, but we must put aside our prejudices in order to make the right decision.

i agree to what you're

i agree to what you're saying neil. it cannot be denied that our decisions may in a way, be influenced by our biases.

we just have to make a conscious effort to do away with them, so as to arrive at the most sound decision.
