Out of Mind, but not Out of Body... Listening to Metaphors

Mind Power

As always...I enjoy reading what you have posted here on your blog. I've also noticed that on my blog site: http://subliminalmentalperception.com/blog I have similar content to what you have here. I guess that's why I keep coming back and visiting your blog. Keep up the good word...you've made a strong impression on me.

Mental Perception

Asomata

Cutters spring immediately to mind, since cutting is one of the prevalent ways the body and mind get transposed. While I don't suffer the symptomology of actual self-injury, anxiety, guilt, or any extreme emotion constantly produces the urge to cut or dig into my skin. The metaphor happens to be fairly simple--there is "too much" inside and blood-letting seems to be the perfect way of "getting it out." I try to refrain from the mental exercies of imagining my self-injury, but as it is, just imagining the act of cutting releases me to be able to fully examine what or why I feel. It's as if the horror of thinking of cutting forces me to focus on the stimulus in such a way that I can think things thru.

You have the idea...

Asomata, the metaphors you mention are the ideas that are emotionally felt and as you said, "getting it out." Another metaphor for cutting might also involve, "cutting something or someone out of there life/body" Dr. G.
