You're right, the A word is a squirmy topic. We're on the other end - wanting a baby of our own with lots of outside advice that we should adopt. Glad you're blogging about the topic.
The A word
It's kind of like this is the message: whatever you want you should be wanting something different. In reality what you want should be in line with who you really are.

Being a mother
Thanks for the thoughtful discussion. Giving birth and being a mother are two vastly different things. Nurturing, caring, and loving a child is parenting. It doesn't matter how the child came into the family.

Sorority of Mothers
The "sorority of mothers" is an interesting phrase (well-put, Meredith). It shouldn't matter whether a woman joins through giving birth or adopting or both -- she should only get a smile and a sincere "Welcome!" from the other members of the tribe.
