I regret mocking Cindy McCain. I now see her as the most vulnerable and pained figure in American public life (even more than Lindsay Lohan and Brittney Spears, who are younger and more capable of rescuing themselves). Read More

I do pity her
I have loads of pity for the woman: she is the one with all the money, but she's not the one with the power in their relationship it appears.
How could she have relinquished herself and made herself so dependent on a cruel narcissist.
She was young, beautiful and wealthy when she met this middle-aged lothario and opportunist.
Why didn't her father protect her? Didn't she and her parents see how easily McCain abandoned his first family and his ex-model wife b/c she had grown fat from becoming disabled by an auto accident. That alone should have signaled something in her which said, hey this guy is not very steadfast and his manger management problems (punching out a fellow congressman) were even back then common knowledge.
Pity the calculating?
I agree we need to rescue Cindy McCain by denying John McCain the presidency. I also feel she needs to be rescued from herself as much as from her husband. Any woman who boldly and coldly denies the existence of her half-siblings needs more than a loving, caring husband to set her on a better course. This point is examined in my post: Is Cindy McCain Really and Only Child?
