Cindy and Johnny were spouses,

Agreed
I really feel there is a lot behind the lack of intimacy. Cindy McCain looks very strained and tight. While it could be the drain of the campaign, it often appears as though she's wearing a mask.
Previous history, baggage, incidents the public cannot afford to know about. I don't know. But together the McCains definitely seem strained and in fact they seem like two independent people rather than a couple. While they may have the same objectives, that could be on a superficial business level.
This isn't a politically motivated comment, I honestly agree with your observations here and really wonder what's happened in their private lives that publicly they could appear this way. It is a gut instinct and observation.

She is on the edge b/c she appears in every why like a person who is in an abusive relationship. Now, I'm not saying McCain ever hit her, I don't know but from the news story (Huffpost) about his verbal abuse in front of journalists is apalling and revolting: No man no matter how angry should call his wife a c*nt for the record, that is verbal abuse plain and simple.
