This essay is an excellent articulation of psychiatry's state of dysfunctional affairs. Hopefully, as clinicians seek to correct the therapeutic imbalances that exist, they also start to more proactively recommend solutions strategies that the patient can begin implementing immediately. I.e., daily exercise, a healthy diet, increased socialization in any form, along with simple meditation techniques.
And rather than just recommending the above as an aside, I would hope that therapists begin challenging patients in a supportive way to take ownership of their recovery early in the treatment cycle.
I mean apart from pharmaceuticals and psychotherapy, living holistically is what it is all about. So I would think that the sooner a patient begins, the better.
The drug industry is
The drug industry is interested in only one thing: expanding market share at all costs. Why else do we see the daily child abuse of drugging our children to treat their behaviors?
