HOW WE BELIEVE (Book Review)
THE SEARCH FOR GOD IN AN AGE OF SCIENCE W.H. Freeman,$14.95
Michael Shermer, Ph.D., publisher of Skeptic magazine and host of the Skeptics Lecture Series at the California Institute of Technology, is a nonbeliever. But he didn't write this book to bash religion or question its value. Instead, his goal is to understand religious belief itself: How and why people come to believe one thing or another about God. As Harvard evolutionist Stephen J. Gould told Shermer, "You cannot understand the human condition without understanding religion or religious arguments."
