Extraordinary Friends (Book Review)

This book is part of a series of "Let's Talk About It" picturebooks suitable for beginning readers and written by Fred Rogers of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood." This installment concerns "special needs" kids, who have difficulty speaking, walking or learning. The theme is that "even though we're different in some ways, we are all alike in many ways." The book discusses some of these commonalities and suggests ways that children can interact with those who are different from them. With the help of color photos by Jim Judkis, Mr. Rogers helps us remember that perhaps the greatest gift we can give anyone is a bit of ourselves.
