DIABETES
Here's your chance to donate your body to science--and perhaps get it back in better shape than it was before.
Researchers at the (take a deep breath) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases are looking for volunteers for a study to see if behavioral changes can delay or prevent diabetes. Since the adult-onset variety of diabetes afflicts some 15 million Americans--putting them at increased risk for everything from strokes to blindness --participating in the research could yield some major health dividends. The study will be conducted at 25 sites around the country; to see if there one near you, call the NIDD-KD toll free at (888) DPP-JOIN.
