Males, the appendix of the species

'Men, I'm afraid, are becoming obsolete. We don't hunt anymore, wearen't needed for protection--most of the things we are biologically programmed to do have become irrelevant in modern times. As genetic and fertilization technologies become more advanced and widespread, I think some men are really going to protest. They're not going to see anything left for them to do. It's not surprising that males of most species have higher mortality rates and are more likely to leave the social group. A species needs enough males around for genetic variety, but in the long run, males create a lot of problems and are largely expendable."
