Following divorce, custody of children is increasingly being awarded to the father. The number of single fathers raising preschoolers surpassed the number of single moms raising preschoolers in 1990, according to the keystone state's Data Center. The number of single-father families with children under 18 increased 52.6 percent from 1980 to 1990 while the number of single-mother families increased only 8.6 percent; married couples decreased 11.3 percent.
