ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and Maria Shriver aside, men who want romance in their lives may prefer to pass up performance-enhancing drugs when pumping iron. Male bodybuilders who used steroids (or cocaine) while lifting weights were viewed as less intelligent, less interesting, less happy, less confident, and less relaxed than garden-variety muscleheads by their male and female peers. There are, reports psychologist Kevin J. Corcoran, Ph.D., and psychology doctoral student Michael Schwerin at the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, limits to the prototype of the attractive male. Could be a potential setback for all those bench-pressing drug users who believe that 'roids and coke make them sexually aggressive and more easily aroused, especially in a society now becoming active in the prevention of rape.
